Letters, loot and auto drive

  • A round of tester requests for looting, camp life, driving and sound. Nobody has played this build yet, so tell us what looks, sounds or feels wrong.
  • Looting: press E at a fallen scavenger's supplies or a crate and a window shows what it holds. Click a stack or drag it to your pack, or press LOOT ALL (or E again) to take everything. A butchered animal leaves its yield in a crate.
  • SEND NEARBY is now STASH NEARBY. It still sends what you carry to chests and holds within 10 m that you may use.
  • Camp mailbox: build one from the Camp tab. Each game day a letter from someone in town waits in it, and its flag stands up. Press E to take it. Letters stay in the journal's new LETTERS tab, and SHOW THE WAY guides you to the sender. Letters pay nothing; take the quest in person.
  • Vehicle auto run: the auto run key (backslash) keeps a vehicle at full throttle, as it does on foot. W or S takes the wheel back.
  • Auto path: press ; at the wheel and the vehicle follows the road or heads for your guide target, slowing for drops, walls and deep water. Press ' to swap to the gun without stopping, and back to the wheel at speed.
  • Bosses: the attack warning is a low breath and a thud instead of a ringing chime, and the Crimson Sovereign has a new voice of its own.
  • Music fades out before a track ends instead of cutting off, waits a little after you leave a place, and plays softly behind town life.
  • Bars, inns, the lounge and the arcade have real crowd talk, and only when three or more people are in the room.
  • Swimmers can climb onto the low decks of the Storm Regent's platforms from the water.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.75 downloads a patch of about 125 MB and Windows about 163 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.75

New sounds and a fresh tech tree

  • A big round of tester requests, with new recorded sound and music throughout. Nobody has played this build yet, so tell us what looks, sounds or feels wrong.
  • Your tech has been reset: everyone gets their points back, worked out from your level, so you can pick again. While testing runs, FORGET and RESET ALL are free, so try anything you like.
  • Tech tree: a new Farming branch runs Sprinkler to Pond, and Materials adds Metal Plate to Hardened Alloy, one point each. Shops don't sell hardened alloy, so it comes from players who make it.
  • Tech cards now say what an unlock does before you spend, including breach charges, armor, sprinklers, hook upgrades and crafting stations.
  • Ponds cost 30 stone and 10 wood and keep the same reach. Filling one in returns half.
  • Trading: a booth at the Lantern rents for 75 scrap instead of 300 while testing, and a research desk swaps any specialty's data for your own, one for one.
  • Vesna stays 12 minutes at each town stop before she moves on, and the map shows her while she trades in town.
  • Effects: a fault was hiding many effects, and most of them should show now. Bosses get wind-up warnings and more effects around their attacks, and class specials have their own effects. The Engineer's turret is a real machine now, not a block.
  • Bosses turn, move and pick their spots better, and the Lantern Spore keeps its feet on the ground.
  • Sound: 160 recorded sounds for footsteps, swimming, gathering, tools, doors and the pack. Water is softer and fades out closer to the source. Chris is back on the bar stool.
  • Music: five tracks by Scott Buckley play by place and in a fight, with a MUSIC slider in Settings. Full credits are in Settings, Audio.
  • The build menu's material costs fit their box, and the game has its own icon on Mac and Windows.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.74 downloads a patch of about 164 MB and Windows about 197 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.74

Builders, bosses and longer days

  • A big update for camp builders and boss hunters, shaped by what testers asked for. Nobody has played this build yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Camp building: two walls stack with no floor between them, and a third doesn't. A floor can reach one cell out from a foundation, so a ledge can hang over a river. Porch steps climb to a raised door, stairs fit a half cell with a stairwell floor above, and a lift carries you up to level 3.
  • Build menu: it now looks and works like the crafting page, with tabs, search, CAN BUILD, a list and a detail pane. MOVE carries a placed crate or station to a new spot with everything in it.
  • Rings and the kiss: a wedding band has its own slot, shows on your hand and stays through death. Partners can kiss from the emote wheel or with /kiss.
  • Longer days: a 36-minute cycle now has about 27 minutes of light and 9 of dark. Eclipses still come in daylight.
  • Scrap: there are 143 scrap spots on Shorefall and 90 in the Highlands, with new piles and wrecked machines. Four more creatures drop it, and bosses and dungeon chests pay more.
  • Bosses: every boss is five times bigger, with eleven new moves and new effects, and the camera pulls back to fit them. The Vault Keeper fights in a new Deep Vault hall.
  • Getting started: Rhea starts you on The Old Pads and What the Rocks Are Worth, and Vesna's caravan shows on the map. A campfire goes straight on bare ground, and a locked station names the project it needs.
  • Pantry: a pantry holds 48 stacks, food and cooking ingredients only. Anything else already in one stays until you take it out.
  • Voice: push-to-talk nearby voice is off for everyone until you turn it on in Settings. With it off you neither talk nor hear. Hold the comma key to talk (you can rebind it), and mute anyone from the player list. Macs ask for the microphone the first time you use it.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.73 downloads a patch of about 151 MB and Windows about 188 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.73

Fish, fires and field kit

  • Healing you can use in a fight, ponds that work, a fish shop, and a long list of camp and carry fixes. Nobody has played this build yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Healing: bandages heal over time and work mid fight, and a hit stops them. There are four grades, from the plain Bandage (25 health over 10 seconds) to the Lumen Dressing (90 over 15), and you can start one a minute. A fed explorer who stays out of a fight for 10 seconds slowly heals.
  • Ponds: a pond fills when you finish digging it and stays full, and it waters soil within 5 metres at dawn. It holds nine kinds of freshwater fish, and every few days a basket fills with fish or one of ten surprises. You can remove a pond you no longer want.
  • Fish: Odile's Tanks & Tackle buys and sells fish and sells tackle and four home aquariums. Salt fish go in salt tanks, and legends need a large tank. Bite and reel prompts read better, and the rod has a landing ring and a line from its tip.
  • Fires: campfires, stoves, ovens, ranges and fireplaces share one screen. Put logs in the burner, pick a recipe, and cook more than one food at a time.
  • Storage: a field chest packs with its contents into one item, stays with you through death, sets down off the grid and stands on a ship's deck. Crates take labels, SORT merges partial stacks, and SEND NEARBY sends your stacks to crates within 10 metres.
  • Ships: ships have fuel tanks, and larger hulls hold more. Fuel one and SET RESPAWN at its helm panel; waking aboard burns 10 cells. Every ship starts this build with an empty tank.
  • Gear and people: hooks last longer, and a hook in your slot stays with you through death. 36 held items are rebuilt with proper grips and tips, cheese comes in four sizes, and Chris and CoCo have their own bodies back.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.72 downloads a patch of about 158 MB and Windows about 193 MB. Saves carry over, and we copied every world before the update. Once a world has saved one of the new items, it can't go back to 0.4.72 without that copy.
0.4.72

Finer settings, breaking plates

  • Finer graphics settings, boss armour that breaks for real, and a long list of fixes. Nobody has played this build yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Graphics: the DISPLAY page has a DETAIL section with a row each for anti-aliasing, shadows, view distance, foliage, effects, textures, post-processing, ambient occlusion and reflections, plus global illumination on Windows. Low, Medium or High sets every row, and changing one row makes it Custom. Your look stays as it was until you change a row. Every settings page now scrolls.
  • Bosses: when you break one of a boss's armour plates, it falls away and the body shows cracks on that side.
  • Animals: a crated farm animal keeps its name and mood, and comes out of the crate as it went in.
  • Roads and rally: each explorer gets their own find from a road stash once a day, so two explorers searching together both get loot. The dune rally keeps separate boards for rovers, trucks and everything else, and the board turns between them.
  • Travel and ships: quitting during a solo crossing no longer leaves your vehicle in both worlds, and the far side's vehicle limit is checked before you leave. Another crew's hit can hurt a seated pilot or gunner, and a ship's shield takes part of each blow for explorers standing on its deck.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.71 downloads a patch of about 126 MB and Windows about 161 MB. Saves carry over, and we copied every world before the update. Once a world has saved a named animal crate, it can't go back to 0.4.71 without that copy.
0.4.71

A wider view, a fuller wild

  • The map and the camera open up, and the world outside the market fills in. Nobody has played this build yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Map: the zone map zooms up to five times on the mouse wheel, drags to pan and glides to a place you click. A strip of toggles hides kinds of places, such as events or your clan's, and N hides the names. The minimap hides what you hide, and ] cycles its range between 150, 300 and 600 m. The Highlands has a full map now.
  • Camera: the mouse wheel steps the camera from first person, where you see your own body, out to a wide view. On a pad, hold the right stick click and use the D-pad. Other players see you face where you look. Vehicles and mounts zoom too, and the settings have CAMERA DISTANCE and FIRST PERSON AT FULL ZOOM.
  • Mountains: Shorefall's bare north and west rim has ledges, rock and scrub, with three places to climb to: Crown Signal Tower, the Old Survey Mast and Windcut Shelter. The Basalt Crown mesas in the Highlands have ledges, scree, spires and scrub, and a lookout ruin on the north-east top.
  • Camps: the camps along the hunting routes have tents, fires, crates and barricades. Road ambushes set up real barricades, braziers and beacons, and a broken-down hauler looks like a truck.
  • Town: the shops outside the market carry neon signs, and the square, the main streets and the canal have string lights, awnings, lanterns, carts and cargo. Shorefall's eight hamlets and the Highlands' Stackyard each have a name sign, lanterns, a cook fire with seats, a goods stall and a washing line.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.70 downloads a patch of about 152 MB and Windows about 192 MB. Saves carry over, and we copied every world before the update.
0.4.70

The boss dungeons, in the world

  • The boss dungeons are in the world. Nobody has fought the bosses yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Bosses: the Vault Keeper guards his hoard in Keeper's Hollow, a cave in a Highlands mesa. The Lantern Spore glows in its den in Saltwood Grove, and only a butcher knife can skin it. The Storm Regent waits at the Shoal, nine platforms at sea you jump between. The boss quests from Ness, Rask, Corwin, the archivist and Odile lead to them.
  • Creatures: Ironbark Bulwarks with armoured fronts, and Canopy Stalkers that hunt in pairs at night. The butcher knife has its own look.
  • Animal pens: CRATE ALL MY ANIMALS boxes every animal you own, and grown animals go into grown crates and come out grown. Each row names the animal's owner. A butcher knife lets you slaughter one; a young one gives half. An animal that ends up outside the fence walks back in through the gate.
  • Building: garden plots stay usable beside stone paths and rugs, and a path can't be laid on soil. The Build key leaves build mode, crouch cancels, and every placing prompt shows both.
  • Town: the square's benches sit on the ground and take two people each, and the big sign no longer blocks you. Casino buttons read clearly when highlighted. A full used lot says so, and a bay frees at dawn. A new pond's page points you to Vesna, who sells fingerlings. Repairs cost a little more.
  • Sound and weather: Tex Santos plays a longer guitar piece, the voices in the inn and the speakeasy no longer sound distorted, and work sounds stop when the job or the piece does. Rain falls in two short spells on a wet day, never three wet days in a row.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.69 downloads a patch of about 195 MB and Windows about 230 MB. Saves carry over, but a pack holding a grown animal crate can't go back to 0.4.69.
0.4.69

The open list, worked through

  • This build works through the open list. It adds no new places or art: the boss dungeons still arrive with their art in a later update. Nobody has played it yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Saves: A world keeps saving when one camp or crop record goes bad, and a server that stops for an update saves first.
  • Fireplaces: hold to add logs one after another, tap a lit fire to put it out, and a cancelled job gives its wood back. A fire that was lit stays lit after a restart. Roof-edge lights say they come on at dusk, and STRIP THE OUTSIDE takes a house's outside finish back off.
  • Placing: a second chair on open ground, a lamp or vase on a table outdoors and roof-edge lights hung while standing on that roof all place now. The ghost closes after your last piece and comes back if a place is refused, and a bed is ready to lie in as soon as it is placed.
  • Farming: clan mates' plots show in the camp menu, raids count the whole clan, the hoe untills before it plants, and the row hoe untills a whole row. Uprooting and row work show a hold bar.
  • Keys and locks: key prompts read right on every client, and a stash or bed inside a locked house shows who holds its keys.
  • Wildlife: a camp animal stuck out of reach walks home, tames swim after their owner, a tame left far behind catches up out of sight, region names show under the compass, and creature camps can hold a named leader.
  • People and text: Odile's story comes after her reward, quest items stay out of stashes, Ness, Rask, Odile and Agathe have new topics, and item texts name your own controls.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.68 downloads a patch of about 117 MB and Windows about 157 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.68

Boss quests, ahead of their dungeons

  • This build lays the groundwork for the boss dungeons. You won't meet the new bosses yet: the Vault Keeper's cave, the Lantern Spore's den, the Storm Regent's Shoal and the new creatures arrive with their art in a later update. Nobody has played it yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Six new quests from Ness, Rask, Corwin, the archivist and Odile. The boss quests can be taken now but not finished until their places arrive. Odile's FISH FOR ODILE (hand her 10 fish of any kind) can be finished, and it opens THE STORM REGENT.
  • The butcher knife: craft it at a workbench from 2 metal plate, 1 hardened alloy and 1 saltwood once you know Reinforced Tools. It counts as a knife for every butcher step, with full yield. Its own look comes with the art.
  • Coming with the art: the Vault Keeper guarding his hoard in Keeper's Hollow, a seven-room cave in a Highlands mesa; the Lantern Spore in Saltwood Grove, which only a butcher knife can skin; the Storm Regent, fought from platform to platform at sea; and Ironbark Bulwarks with armoured fronts and Canopy Stalkers that hunt in pairs at night.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.67 downloads a patch of about 184 MB and Windows about 223 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.67

Holidays, furniture and the art wing

  • This build gets your camp ready for the holidays and fills the furniture store and the museum. Nobody has played it yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • A fuller Christmas tree with real branches and more lights, and new holiday pieces: a tabletop tree, an outdoor tree, a lit reindeer, candy-cane stakes, a snowman, a nutcracker, a mantel garland, an ornament bowl and a tree skirt. Christmas pieces go on sale on 27 November.
  • String lights for your house. Hang string, icicle or big-bulb lights along a wall's top edge or a roof edge; they come on at dusk. Pick the bulb colour when you place them. They sell all year.
  • Two new furniture sets at HEARTH & HALL: FUTURE (light-panel bed, lounge sofa, console desk and more) and BRASS & STEAM (chesterfield, brass bed, valve desk, gramophone and more). Some pieces sell only from the store menu, with no display on the floor.
  • Ten new rugs, neon signs and wall screens. Press E on a neon sign or a screen to switch it on or off; pick a neon colour or a screen channel when you place it. New signs and screens start switched on.
  • Fireplaces burn logs and cook. Add logs one at a time with E, light the fire, and cook campfire meals at it; it burns out when the logs run out. Ranges light their burners while they cook.
  • FINISH THE OUTSIDE paints every outside wall of your house at once in one of sixteen finishes: clapboard, shingles, steel and stucco. Inside faces keep their own finish.
  • Tilling and fishing sometimes turn up one of 24 ancient or pioneer artifacts. Donate them in the museum's new ANCIENTS and PIONEERS halls, in the art wing beside the gallery. The wing's gallery counter sells paintings and sculptures for your home.
  • The hoe no longer fills in a pond beside where you till. Hold E with the hoe on a seedling to uproot it, so a sprinkler can go there. Trees, bushes and grass no longer grow back through house floors.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.66 downloads a patch of about 252 MB and Windows about 280 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.66

Locks and keys

  • This build adds locks and keys, puts furniture in your pack's hands, and lets you step over low ledges. Nobody has played it yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Vehicles start locked. Your rover, lander, hauler or ship is now private: only you can drive it, sit in it, open its hold or use its modules, and your clan and group are no longer let in by default. Strangers see "ROVER IS LOCKED / ASK FOR A KEY". Vehicles you owned before this update load private too, so clans that shared a rover have to open it again.
  • To open a vehicle to your clan or group, stand next to it and press E to open its hold. The owner sees an ACCESS tab: PRIVATE keeps it to you and your keys, and CLAN & GROUP lets in everyone in your clan or your group with no key.
  • To hand out a key, press GIVE KEY on a clan or group mate's row (up to 8 keys); TAKE BACK removes it. A key works only while its holder is in your clan or group. Nobody is thrown out of a seat when you lock a vehicle.
  • To lock a house, open the Camp page, pick a door you built and press LOCK AS MY HOUSE. Everything of yours in that building then belongs to you alone, even against your clan's officers. The same page gives and takes back keys, and UNLOCK HOUSE puts every piece back on its own access. Your wed partner gets in when you share your camp.
  • Furniture you buy goes down in one click: press PLACE on its pack row, or put it on a quick slot and press the slot, then aim and press E. You don't need a crafted pick, and floor furniture and rugs stand on clear, gentle open ground as well as inside a built room.
  • Chairs seat you when you walk up from stairs, a slope or a foundation edge, and standing up finds clear floor around the chair.
  • Clan mates can till, plant, water, harvest and pluck sprinklers on your plots, shared or not; strangers see PRIVATE PLOT. With a hoe in hand, aim at bare tilled soil and press E to untill it.
  • The grappling hook hangs on your right hip and fires from its GRAPPLE slot, with the rope leaving your right hand.
  • Walk into a ledge 42 to 60 cm high and you step up it. Jump at a camp railing, half wall, fence or low ledge lip and you vault over it when there is floor to land on.
  • The six Lantern Exchange houses open again, and you can walk in.
  • Clearing a wilted crop that regrows no longer stops the server from saving. On 0.4.65 one such crop kept Shorefall from saving for about an hour and a half, until a dawn reset the soil and the world saved again.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.65 downloads a patch of about 133 MB and Windows about 173 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.65

The testers' list, worked through

  • This build clears most of the list testers have been reporting. Nobody has played it yet, so tell us what looks or feels wrong.
  • Other players' swings now show their wind-up. Dodges and knock-backs turn with a ship's deck, and standing jumps on it no longer drift.
  • Sinking a raider gunboat pays XP and counts toward a bounty, and you can climb aboard a slowed gunboat from the water and take the strongbox loot.
  • Ships get module removal, a medbay that treats illness, a bed in the captain's cabin, a galley that cooks on a timer, clear glass, burning nozzles, flank numbers and a trawler net. Boost has a meter.
  • Ladder hatches have a lid you can shut. The paddock gate and hay rack follow the feed, rain barrels and hives show their water and bees, and the field build kit starts the building lessons.
  • Stopping a server saves first and tells you with 10 seconds' warning. Wilderness sites remember their stash and guards across a restart.
  • Animals far from you sleep properly. Drone hives and burrower warrens fill with animals, every wild zone has levels that climb away from its landing, and tames swim in canyon water and walk home. The hunting-route camps were laid out again, so the camps along them start fresh. The burrower and the bosses have new looks.
  • The Scrapbowl has a timer, the museum a progress board, the springs hide your pack and the drive-in fits its reel to the text. The Halfway's bunks ease illness, and its jukebox no longer has one switch for the whole zone.
  • Residents get caps, headphones and aprons, wreckers have faces of their own, and the stranded survivor can be rescued at the library.
  • Convoy trucks and the tide barge stop at the pier, and the barge announces itself. A clan claim keeps out ponds, saplings and crops, and members elsewhere hear when it lapses. Group leaders can remove a member.
  • Two rivers on Shorefall flow like the creeks, the other regions have their own look and gate boards, the market's houses and gate posts are reshaped, and the festival board, dungeon shells, obelisks and course rings match the island paint.
  • Beds lay you down, the gazebo seats sit on its deck, the finish tool works on foundations and rugs, and wardrobes show outfit pictures made for your body.
  • Tread Lines counts every press. DOCK BRAWL uses X and Y and offers two continues.
  • 47 hint lines were rewritten. Hearths crackle, rain sounds on tin roofs, and the arcade games have music.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.64 downloads a patch of about 428 MB and Windows about 440 MB. Saves carry over, but a world saved by this build can't go back to 0.4.64 or older, so we copied every world before the update.
0.4.64

Readable holograms, patient animals

  • Market holograms are dimmer, so you can read them. There are fewer of them: the house fronts, the avenue and the four venues. Each stands beside its door.
  • Animals now wait 10 unfed days before they wander off. You are warned on day 2 and again the day before they leave.
  • The warning says which trough is empty, and clan mates who can feed the animals hear it too. Water from rain barrels alone does not count as fed.
  • Fixed a Mac crash that could happen when joining right after a patch.
  • Nobody has played this build yet, so tell us what breaks.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.63 downloads a patch of about 119 MB and Windows about 160 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.63

Walk-in houses and neon

  • The six houses on the avenue open. Walk up to a door and it slides apart onto a furnished, lit room, with the trade on the sign over it.
  • The INN has a front desk, booths and a back bar, with a capsule hall of eight sleeping pods upstairs. The TEA house has a counter with urns and a floor of low tables and cushions above.
  • The BATHS have a soaking tub with steam, showers and a locker room. REPAIRS has workbenches, a parts wall and a suit stand, SCRAP has bins, a cage counter and a platform scale, and FUEL has tanks, pumps and a charging bay. Four houses have stairs, and the two B houses open onto a balcony.
  • Neon posts replace the warm light posts that washed out the signs. Tubes keep their colour instead of burning white, and the deck reflects them after dark. The house fanlights no longer glow by day.
  • Every stall, house and rest court has a hologram on a plinth showing its trade, from a steaming cup to a fuel drop. The lantern hologram over the avenue is rebuilt taller and hangs higher, with two rings.
  • Rooflines, window frames, fire escapes, screens and a billboard carry neon on the houses, and screens stand at the gate and in the courts.
  • Neon strips run along the deck, and new posts and grates line the aisles. The puddles stay clear of the furniture.
  • The Slow Fuse, the Orbit Room, Loose Change and HEARTH & HALL get neon outlines and their own holograms, neon strips lead up the ramps, and the warehouse sign sits on its building again.
  • Searchlight beams sweep over the market, and lit drones circle it.
  • Neon hum, room tones inside each house, and door sounds.
  • Nobody has played this build yet. Doors open for you on your own screen, so tell us if one stays shut or opens on its own.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.62 downloads a patch of about 175 MB and Windows about 210 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.62

The furniture warehouse

  • HEARTH & HALL is now a warehouse. Climb the stairs from the loop road and walk the path through furnished rooms: a living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom on the right, a bedroom, guest room, home office and lounge on the left, with display islands down the middle and every floor, wall and rug on show in the back hall. Margot still sells at the checkout by the door.
  • 40 new pieces, 146 in all: desks, desk chairs and desk lamps in three styles, dressers, sideboards, side tables, a filing cabinet, a bar cart, an ottoman, a single bed, counter stools, two fridges, a range hood, a kitchen shelf, a shower, a mirror cabinet, a bath mat, a coat rack, an entry bench, a console and five rugs.
  • Rugs lie under your furniture, and a hung kitchen shelf carries small pieces.
  • The store menu fits: rooms down the side, two-line names with a style badge, a scrolling detail with BUY always in view, and BUY greys out when your pack is full.
  • Clothing is an item now. Buying at THE LOOSE SEAM puts it in your pack, and BUY AND WEAR puts it on. Use it from the pack to change, and TAKE OFF puts the worn outfit back. Outfits you already owned arrive as items.
  • Wardrobes hold 20 items of clothing on a rail beside your suit loadouts, and dressers hold 10.
  • Nobody has played this build yet. Tell us what breaks.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.61 downloads a patch of about 151 MB and Windows about 187 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.61

HEARTH & HALL

  • HEARTH & HALL, a furniture store, opens in Shorefall's town, east of the general store. Margot keeps the counter, and a showroom of 182 displays shows the range.
  • It sells 106 pieces in mid-century, modern and antique sets, and 20 floor and 20 wall finishes. Most are on sale from the start, some open at higher explorer levels, and the wreaths and Christmas pieces are seasonal.
  • Bedroom, dining and living room: beds, wardrobes, nightstands, mirrors, tables, dining chairs, sofas, coffee tables, lamps and bookshelves.
  • Kitchen and bath: stoves, ranges, sinks, cupboards and counters that join into one run, tubs, toilets and vanities.
  • Decor and outdoors: windows with curtains, plants, vases, curios, wreaths, a Christmas tree, an Adirondack chair, a gazebo and fireplaces.
  • Choose a piece's wood, fabric or counter top as you place it, and restyle it later. Pieces snap to your camp's grid, and picking one up gives it back whole.
  • Sit on chairs and sofas; make a bed your home; keep loadouts and outfits in a wardrobe; cook on a range; light lamps and fireplaces, which warm like a campfire.
  • Only a short two-player test has been through the store so far. Tell us what breaks.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.60 downloads a patch of about 244 MB and Windows about 275 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.60

Lantern Exchange after dark

  • Steps 3 to 7 of the Lantern Exchange after dark, in one update. It builds on the rounded market of 0.4.58 and the wet streets of 0.4.59.
  • Torn posters, graffiti and grime on the walls, and puddles on the deck.
  • Every stall has a neon pictogram sign and a number. A lit stall sign carries a neon OPEN, a lantern and the stall's name.
  • The houses have neon strips and sign blades. Two screens and some clutter stand on the rooftops.
  • Cables with lamps cross the avenue, and a hologram lantern turns slowly over it.
  • The gate has a neon LANTERN EXCHANGE sign, a scanner arch and cameras.
  • The rest courts have vending machines and steam. Chainlink and razor wire run along the terrace edge.
  • At night a few coloured lights and a little more bloom pick out the biggest signs.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.59 downloads a patch of about 85 MB and Windows about 40 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.59

Wet streets

  • Step 2 of 7 toward the Lantern Exchange after dark: the market gets wet.
  • In the rain, the market's buildings, stalls and deck darken, pick up soft reflections and gather puddles.
  • After dark the market stays damp, even without rain.
  • The neon, lightbox, screen and hologram materials the next steps use are in the build. Nothing shows them yet.
  • Fix: with a lit sign, a stall's name sits on the sign again instead of floating in front of it (broken since 0.4.56).
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.58 downloads a patch of about 120 MB and Windows about 151 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.58

The market, rounded

  • Step 1 of 7 toward the Lantern Exchange after dark: every market house, stall and terrace piece is rebuilt with rounded edges.
  • Houses have rounded corners and bullnose rooftop edges, two of them wear barrel roofs, and the upper windows are arched with lit fanlights.
  • Stalls have a curved canopy and rounded counters.
  • The same houses elsewhere on Shorefall are rounded too, and houses draw with less detail at a distance.
  • Nothing moved: footprints, doors, windows and shop upgrade spots are where they were.

0.4.57

Britty and CoCo, touched up

  • CoCo stands up straight behind her roastery counter instead of hunching, and her face is out of the shadow.
  • Britty has both eyes open; her left eye was painted half closed.
  • Britty and CoCo have softer skin shading and sharper detail up close.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.56 downloads a patch of about 99 MB and Windows about 59 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.56

Shorefall, repainted

  • The Lantern Exchange's painted look now covers all of Shorefall: the canal houses and storefronts, roads, streets, quays and bridges, the launch field, the outposts and the car lots.
  • The Archive, its library, museum and arcade, the bar and casino and CoCo's roastery are furnished to match, and the coast, the canopy walkways and the wild sites are rebuilt too.
  • Camp walls, floors and doors and the homestead furniture wear the new look on every planet, and take paint and frost as before. The build menu icons still show the old pieces.
  • The Exchange board has a proper frame. Stall strongboxes stand behind the counter, and the lit stall sign hangs under the canopy edge.
  • Britty and CoCo have sharper faces, and CoCo stands on her roastery floor. Nobody has walked the new pieces yet: tell us where a step, bridge or seat feels wrong.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.55 downloads a patch of about 270 MB and Windows about 296 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.55

New faces in town

  • Britty, Chris, CoCo and Christian have new bodies, clothes and hair, made for each of them. They keep their spots, lines and stock.
  • Tex Santos plays guitar on the grass outside The Slow Fuse. You can hear him from the door. Talk to him; he takes requests, as long as they use four chords.
  • Kittie paints the coast at an easel in the clothing store, with a brush and palette in her hands. She likes tea.
  • Tex and Kittie keep at their work while you talk, instead of turning to face you. Neither of them trades.
  • Fingers do not bend yet, and a few clothes stretch when someone sits or runs. Tell us if anyone clips, floats or stands inside something.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.54 downloads a patch of about 105 MB and Windows about 64 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.54

The market, rebuilt

  • The Lantern Exchange is rebuilt. Its stalls have peaked, striped tents, with pots, cloth and lanterns hanging under them and goods on the shelves.
  • The market houses have shaped fronts, real windows and doors, plinths and cornices. One has an upper floor that leans out over the street on wooden braces, and another has a roofed balcony.
  • Arches stand at the gates, bunting with small lanterns crosses the avenue, and the rest courts have pyramid tents.
  • Wood and brass chairs, tables, lockers and crates replace the metal furniture on the terrace.
  • The market's lanterns glow softer at night; before, they blew out the night view.
  • Nobody has played the new market in a test session yet. Tell us if you can walk through something, get stuck, or see a piece floating.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.53 downloads a patch of about 93 MB and Windows about 50 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.53

One world, one look

  • One worn field kit of painted steel, rust, deck plate, trim and decals now dresses Shorefall's town, ships, modules, camp pieces, props and vehicles.
  • Shorefall's houses sit on their lots with footings and steps. Signposts, street lamps and nameplates line the streets, the square has its own Lantern Exchange board, the used lot and the Halfway are built out, and the Archive, chapel, jeweler and roastery are furnished.
  • Named residents wear Mk2 clothing. Raider gunboats and the tide barge have their own hulls, the dune burrower and the cinder stag have their own bodies, wildlife attacks on the run, and mounts trot and swim.
  • New gates stand on both Highlands passes and at Shorefall. Street lamps glow warm, interiors are lit to one standard, the scanned trees are graded to match, and the ground uses one set of landscape materials.
  • The menus share one type and colour style. Build pieces have new icons, skills have badges, and the shops show pictures of tattoos, outfits, beards and face paint. Hair styles still show their names.
  • New sounds: the arcade annex's room, the cabinets' attract loops, the lander's hop and camp sounds. For now only the pilot hears the hop.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.52 downloads a patch of about 283 MB and Windows about 311 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.52

Camps that remember

  • Camp creatures keep their levels and health when a region restarts. Until now each restart rolled every camp member's level again, and one could come back weaker than it was.
  • Camps saved before this build roll their levels one last time when the region first starts on 0.4.52, and keep them from then on.
  • A vehicle wedged where its driver has no clear way out no longer stops the whole region from saving. That driver keeps their last saved spot (or stands on the vehicle's roof if they had none), and everyone else's progress saves as usual.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.51 downloads a patch of about 101 MB and Windows about 143 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.51

A steadier town

  • Shorefall's street lamps and signposts stand upright again, and each signpost points down its road with readable text.
  • The town's houses and yard dressings, the chapel and its bell, the jeweler, CoCo's roastery, the square's board, bench and notice post, and the used lot are solid: their walls stop you and you stand on their floors.
  • Twelve buildings that floated over sloping ground now sit on concrete foundations. Three lamps buried under paving were raised, and one inside the caravan's airship is gone.
  • Joining a hosted region could leave you on CONNECTED behind the join screen until you pressed Cancel. The game now goes on into the world.
  • Street lamp glow fades out past 80 m (40 m on Low and Medium graphics), and lamp heads cast no shadow. 112 town lights and 200 small props stop drawing at a distance.
  • The crafting page is built the first time you open it and shows item icons as they load, so the field menu opens without a stall.
  • A region loads its creatures and gear as you arrive, instead of when they first come into view.
  • The server spends less time on herds, hunting routes and camp spawn points, and placed camp pieces send updates only when something about them changes.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.50 downloads a patch of about 118 MB and Windows about 159 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.50

A town and its camps

  • Every hostile has a level, shown beside its name in a con colour from grey to red. Kill XP follows its level and colour. Near Shorefall's town creatures are levels 1 to 8, along the coast 8 to 16 and toward the passes 16 to 25; the Highlands are 20 to 40.
  • Pull with care: hitting a creature brings only its campmates within 8 m, and how close you can come unnoticed depends on its colour. A creature dragged 60 m from home, or left alone for 30 s, walks back at full health.
  • Camps come back one spawn point at a time, 5 to 7 minutes after each kill, unless you stand on the spot. One spawn in twenty brings up the camp's named mob with better drops. Hunting routes run out from town with roaming pairs between camps, and Wrecker crews, rogue drones, dune burrowers and the cinder stag join the fight.
  • Groups of up to six, from /invite or the social menu: kills share XP and credit with members within 60 m, and a frame on the left shows your group. A level-up rings a bell, raises a column of light and shows a banner; a skill level gets a softer chime.
  • Shorefall is a town. Packed dirt roads with signposts and lamps reach every place, eleven houses belong to named residents, the square has a map board, and Second Wind Motors has new art and a new dealer, Christian.
  • Crafting takes time. Hand crafts queue up to five jobs that finish while you keep moving, and cooking burns wood. Build a stove, an oven, a spinning wheel or a machinist's bench to work faster and in bigger batches.
  • Residents keep a day: some walk the roads and go home to sleep. Chris drinks and rambles at the Slow Fuse, and listening can tell you where a named mob is up. Awg the programmer is awake only now and then, and has a quest, DEAD PIXELS.
  • CoCo's roastery sells seeds, seedlings, compost and coffee. Her quest, PUT DOWN ROOTS, teaches you to roast coco beans in a skillet; brewed coffee gives 10 minutes of faster movement and stamina.
  • A chapel and a jeweler. Buy a ring, propose to another explorer, and wed at the chapel.
  • Every client must update to play online. A Mac on 0.4.49 downloads a patch of about 185 MB and Windows about 218 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.49

Clean passes

  • Shorefall's three passes, the Crown pass, the Saltway and the Ebb Road, now cut straight through the mountains. Each used to end in a rock spire behind its gate; now you see the far range through the cut.
  • An explorer or rover that walks on past a pass gate stops at the end of the gate, where E still takes you across.
  • Mac patch updates are back. A Mac on 0.4.48 downloads a patch of about 199 MB; a Mac on 0.4.47 or older downloads the full client once more.
  • Windows: Play Online downloads a patch of about 241 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.48

No piece limit

  • No build piece limit. A planet held 256 pieces across all its camps, and Shorefall had reached it. Now you can place as many pieces as your materials allow, by hand or from a blueprint.
  • Mac: Play Online downloads the full client again. 0.4.47's patch update left the game unable to open on a Mac. The updater now clears the macOS flag that caused it, and Mac patch updates come back once that is proven.
  • Windows: Play Online downloads a patch of about 139 MB. Saves carry over.
0.4.47

Pick first

  • Field training no longer asks you to mine before you have a pick. After you gather scrap it opens crafting, has you craft a SALVAGE PICK, then sends you to an ore deposit and on to a workbench. Explorers waiting on MINE A DEPOSIT move on to crafting.
  • Training cards use the words for the device you are using: the mouse and your keys on a keyboard, the sticks and buttons on a controller. Driving, steering, emotes and the social menu read correctly on a controller.
  • On a controller, the grapple hook prompt names its button, LB + LT, instead of UNBOUND.
  • The first patch update: Play Online downloads about 100 to 145 MB, the parts that changed, instead of the whole 3 GB client. Saves carry over.
0.4.46

Easier on the Steam Deck

  • Falls of up to two stories no longer hurt. Higher falls cost 1 health for every 15 cm past 7.5 m, at most 80, and only a fall of more than 12 m sprains an ankle.
  • Prompts, tips and menus name the button for the device you are using: your key on a keyboard, the button on a controller. Moving the mouse no longer switches a controller player back to keyboard text.
  • The wingsuit is easier to open. A prompt shows once there is 4 m of air below you, and a press made too early opens it as soon as there is room. The grapple says why it cannot fire, and Hook and Reel can be rebound on a controller.
  • Menus fit their text at every window size, including the explorer screen when starting a new expedition. A new MENU TEXT setting (100, 115 or 130%) starts at 115% on a Steam Deck or a small window. Controllers get a clear orange focus outline, and frame caps of 30 and 40 FPS suit handhelds.
  • Field training: new explorers at level 1 or 2 are offered a walkthrough on joining. Each card says how and why and finishes when you do it. GOT IT skips a step; holding it turns tips off. The journal's TRAINING page runs any part again.
  • Smaller updates: from the next release on, the game downloads only the parts that changed instead of the whole 3 GB client. This update is still a full download. Update from Play Online before joining. Saves carry over.
0.4.45

A steadier two-handed hold

  • Corrected two-handed holds for picks, the axe, swords, scythe and hunting spear. Wrists follow the forearms and hands stay clear of the chest, standing and crouched.
  • Swings start and return to the corrected hold without a pose jump. Tools that share these animations inherit the change. Damage and contact timing are unchanged.
  • Update from Play Online before joining. Saves carry over.
0.4.44

The pickaxe comes back

  • Fixed number-key switching: returning from slot 2 or 3 to slot 1 draws your pickaxe instead of immediately putting it away again.
  • Pressing the selected tool's key still puts it away, and pressing again draws it. D-pad up works too.
  • Update from Play Online before joining. Saves carry over.
0.4.43

Building up, new arcade games and a grapple on middle mouse

  • Build up to three levels: stairs, a ladder hatch and a pillar join the build menu. New blocks: half wall, window wall, railing, fence and a paddock gate.
  • Ships take less crash damage. A hard stop that used to wreck a track or hover thruster now costs a fraction of it, and one crash can take at most 40% of a part. Raider and gunboat fire is softer on PvE servers.
  • The grapple is on middle mouse: click to fire, click again to let go. Hold Q (RB on a pad) to reel in, and swing from the line. The lander hops when you press Space.
  • Four new original games in the arcade annex: DUSTLINE, a road racer; LANTERN KEEP, a top-down adventure; GANTRY KID, a platformer; and DOCK BRAWL, a four-seat brawler table. Every cabinet now has a how-to-play card, and B and Start work on all of them.
  • Shop mirrors preview what you are picking: tattoos, clothes and make-up show on your explorer as you step through the choices. Turn and zoom to look closer.
  • Fighting: the two-handed pick has a proper stance and swings, and swings turn to face their direction before they land. Quick swings take a little longer to wind up, so you can block them. Harvest swings keep their old pace. Mobs now wind up their swings while running, so you can't kite them for free.
  • Pond instructions are clearer. A sprinkler picks up at any condition and keeps the wear it had. The restored radio places as a working decoration instead of sitting in your pack.
  • Vehicles stranded at Shorefall's north edge now recover, and getting in no longer sends you to your spawn. The suit beacon and a sea wall stop the ocean bounce: you can swim out to the world's edge and stay there.
  • Hotbar slot 1 draws the pick every time, not only after another slot. Fiber grows by the lakes again.
  • New setting: eat automatically from your pack when you are hungry. Every level now gives one stat point and one tech point.
  • This build changes the network protocol, so update before joining (Play Online prompts you). Saves carry over.
0.4.42

Smoother frames and quicker driving

  • The Lantern Exchange runs much faster on Mac. Only the nearest scenery lamp casts shadows at Mac High (Epic quality keeps them all). In testing the market approach went from about 17 to 53 FPS, and the aisle with 12 explorers from 26 to 56.
  • At dusk and night the moon no longer casts shadows while the sun does, so the woods run faster.
  • Driving: your rover, lander and ship respond to steering, throttle and boost on the next frame, even on a slow connection. The server still decides where vehicles really are. A connection hiccup under a second no longer brakes your vehicle. Other players' vehicles glide instead of snapping.
  • Fewer hitches: things that loaded during play now stay loaded, menus no longer stall after memory cleanup, the build menu opens faster, and item icons use far less memory (385 MB down to 24 MB). In a 4-minute test, frames over 50 ms halved.
  • Arriving in the world on Mac no longer freezes while physics sets up: the freeze went from 1.6 seconds to 0.2 in testing, and raiders coming into view no longer stutter.
  • Recipe icons, sounds and hit effects load when you arrive, so the first inventory open and the first sounds no longer stall. A new chat line no longer redraws the whole chat history.
  • Fixed a crash that could happen when another explorer's face came into view just after a long freeze.
  • Fixed settings from older builds staying on Epic quality. They move to Medium once; you can raise it again in Settings.
  • Mac now defaults to a 60 FPS cap, which made frames much more even. If yours was uncapped, it moves to 60 once. You can pick 120 or Unlimited in Settings, and the game keeps your choice.
  • Shorefall's server saves in the background instead of pausing the zone on every trade. NPCs standing still or far from everyone cost less, so the world stays even with more explorers.
  • Your own game does less work each frame: other explorers' hidden parts, the HUD and the interaction prompt.
  • This build changes the network protocol, so update before joining (Play Online prompts you). Saves carry over.
0.4.41

Quieter cannon fire

  • Cannon reports play at 20% volume, fade beyond 5 metres and stop past 150 metres.
  • At most two reports play at once, so repeated gunfire no longer piles up. This covers the battleship, crafted ships and raider gunboats.
  • The Effects volume setting still controls them. Saves carry over.
0.4.40

Stay aboard, sink the raiders

  • Deck rail: above 14 km/h an invisible rail runs along a ship's deck edge, so a running jump no longer ends in the sea. Slow down and you can board from the water as before.
  • Gunboat crews can be shot. A dead helmsman lets the boat drift to a stop, a dead gunner silences the turret, and sinking a gunboat pays 150 XP to everyone who hurt it.
  • Ship modules work: the medbay heals you and speeds injuries, the refinery turns scrap and alloy into metal plate, the lookout mast marks raiders on the minimap, and the captain's cabin adds two berths.
  • Roadside encounters follow the region you are in. A new explorer waits for a streamed start point instead of spawning at the map origin.
  • Convoy trucks are labelled, a hull left at zero health shows its charred mesh, and the clan claim beacon has its own model and build icon.
0.4.39

Solo travel and Drowned Reach

  • Solo worlds cross passes and launch fields like the hosted world. Your pack, gear, health and rover come with you, and each region keeps its own world and camp.
  • Drowned Reach, a flooded region at the end of Shorefall's ebb road, opens in solo play with twelve sites, four herds and the Drowned Metro's entrance.
  • Ship modules: the shield generator halves weapon hits while charged, the engineer station mends parts under way, and the gunner seat reloads the cannon faster.
  • Ship battles and clan claims are built for PvP regions. Crews can fight crews, and a claim beacon holds a ring only its clan can build in. No PvP region is online yet.
  • Tools for a 100-explorer load test: load-test explorers spread over a region in varied looks, and the server logs saves and zone hops.
0.4.38

The arcade annex, the road and the ships

  • Loose Change grows by eight cabinets and two four-seat tables, Tread Lines and Broadside, with computer crews in empty seats.
  • Second Wind Motors sells used rovers, landers and haulers. Inspect, haggle, test drive or trade yours in. Sprocket's bay repairs, sells parts, paints and tunes.
  • The hauler (level 8) has six tracks, two thrusters and a 24-slot hold. The Halfway truck stop has a diner, a jukebox and bunks you can wake in.
  • Vehicles have headlights (L to switch), auto run is on backslash, and Settings has a KEYS page to rebind every action.
  • The skiff, frigate and battleship have their own shapes. Fit deck modules, name and paint your ship, and craft the tug, trawler, dropship, scout and freighter at level 30.
  • Raider gunboats patrol Shorefall's channel, truck convoys and a coastal freighter run their routes, and Lantern Exchange boards haul contracts.
  • New places: the Scrapbowl derby and rover rally, a museum gallery, hot springs in the Highlands and a drive-in screen. Shorefall and the Highlands gain twelve sites each.
  • Explorers get a body pass, tool grips for each specialty suit and a pose per specialty in character creation.
0.4.37

Walk a moving deck

  • Walk, sprint, crouch and jump on the battleship's deck while it moves. A jump keeps you on the deck. You can take the gunner's seat under way.
  • Shorefall: the boulders on the Crown and Saltway roads are gone, the East field has four berths, and a sign and lit bollards lead from the pad to the make-up counter.
  • Tool swings leave a short pale glow at the hand, and hull grades tint a hull's plates.
  • Herds far from everyone rest, which leaves the server more room.
0.4.36

Weightier combat and a grapple for everyone

  • Swings and blocks cost stamina, a guard on empty stamina breaks, and you can dodge by jumping while guarding. Hits pause both fighters, throw sparks and show where they came from.
  • Enemies read your windup, feint, step back and circle. Raider bands bring a slinger, and predators have a second attack.
  • Every explorer carries a scrap hook in a new GRAPPLE slot (middle mouse). Better hooks need the new Rigging skill.
  • Lantern Exchange gets four appearance shops: hair, tattoos, face and make-up, and outfits.
  • Rivers count as fresh water and flow. Shorefall and the Highlands share one planet day. Mounts walk, trot, run and swim.
  • You can step off a ship at sea, swim, and climb back aboard.
  • Farming and Cooking levels unlock homestead stations and recipes. Duels restore only the health their blows took.
0.4.35

Climbing animations and a graded coast

  • Climbing down, pushing off and letting go have their own animations.
  • The guardian panel names the fight's phase, and weak-point brackets sit on the armour plates.
  • The battleship's deck gun has a muzzle flash, smoke and a firing report.
  • Shorefall's pass roads and field banks are graded, the coast's cliff walls now block you, and salvage sites and two herds are out on the shelf.
  • The Archive takes donated books for its display case. Bar stools have their own sit.
  • Snow on Rimefall waters outdoor tiles when it melts, and the seed wheel shows each tile's wetness.
0.4.34

Shorefall's cliffs

  • The rock walls on the west mountain and eastern headlands now face the sea and stand on the waterline and terraces. Before, they were turned side-on and many hung over the water.
  • Boulders and scree along the coast were scattered again.
0.4.33

Climbing, guardians and faces

  • Jump pushes you off a wall, crouch lets go, and hanging on a wall costs stamina.
  • Dungeon guardians show a boss panel with their health. World bosses' armour plates move with their spines.
  • Explorers blink, glance around and look at whoever is near or just spoke.
  • Void Raiders have their own look. Explorers sit in chairs, and the hook swing no longer creases at the armpit.
  • The Breakwater reef draws as instances, which should help frame rates there.
  • Hook bites on metal throw sparks, and tooltips say what an item is used in.
0.4.32

Art pass

  • Starmetal, aurora and cryo-forged gear, hunt trophies and zone items have their own models and icons.
  • Updrafts rise as columns of dust, leaves or steam. The hook kicks up dust or snow, and your explorer has new swing and reel poses.
  • A tranquilizer dart flies, and a darted animal lies down asleep.
  • The battleship's deck gun has a turret, barrel and aiming reticle.
  • The Breakwater reef is rebuilt in worn, varied stone, with a crab and a pier board.
0.4.31

The sea, the hook and titan trees

  • The level cap rises to 60. Levels 40, 50 and 60 open starmetal, aurora and cryo-forged gear.
  • The free-aim hook bites any solid surface within 40 m: hold Q to reel, release to swing, Space to let go.
  • Updrafts stand in Shorefall's canyons and over Rimefall's vents. Glide in to climb.
  • Three titan groves, 135 to 195 m tall, and the 200 m Heartwood. Each grove has a canopy course with a top-ten board.
  • Sea fishing adds six fish, chum and crab pots. Reef sharks may come for a hooked catch at night.
  • The Breakwater, a reef line with nine wrecks and a lighthouse. Freighters fall from the sky every few hours.
  • Hunting grounds with alpha-led packs, and eight named rares per zone.
0.4.30

Fixes from the first testers

  • Scrap stacks to 9,999, and every move between pack and stash is checked so nothing vanishes silently.
  • Illnesses pass in minutes, and rain waters your crops.
  • Every big catch cooks. Furnishings appear in the build menu. Bait and tackle are set from the rod.
  • A seed wheel (hold R) picks a seed line. You can climb out of Shorefall's canyon water.
  • The feed keeps to three lines. Idle zones freeze their wildlife until someone arrives.
0.4.29

Loose Change arcade

  • A free arcade on Shorefall with four cabinet games (Crate Drop, Deep Cut, Tow Line, Hull Breaker) and top-ten boards.
  • Blast Yard, a table game for two to four explorers with computer crews in empty seats.
  • A hidden way to a members' lounge for those who know where to knock.
  • Injuries are harder to get and quicker to heal.
  • Fixed a crash when opening a treasure map from the journal.
0.4.28

The Archive and the Last Word

  • Agathe's reading hall transcribes the books you find for XP. Eight texts in two recovered languages.
  • A commission leads to the Last Word, a members' lounge with a band and four elixirs.
  • Backpacks add pack slots, and stay with your body when you die.
  • The pumping station is a repeatable site on the coast, and a road relay mast can be lit.
  • Ask residents for rumours. Restore the camp radio to hear what the station heard.
0.4.27

Cleaner menus

  • Every menu shares the same text sizes, spacing and panel sizes. Long pages were trimmed to fit, and Settings has a side menu.
  • At character creation your explorer wears the chosen specialty's suit.
  • Each recipe in the technology tree is a card.
0.4.26

Crafting filters and specialty first

  • Crafting has KNOWN and CAN MAKE filters, and the game remembers your choice.
  • New explorers choose a specialty first, on a screen showing all six side by side.
0.4.25

Skills, stats and duels

  • Fifteen skills level from 1 to 20 as you use them. Press J to see them.
  • Each level gives 2 stat points for Vitality, Endurance, Strength or Mobility. Press I, then STATS.
  • Challenge another explorer with /duel NAME. The loser stops at 1 health and both heal afterward.
0.4.24

Lag after riding

  • Fixed Shorefall getting choppier after every ride: parked rovers and landers now check the ground cheaply.
  • Swing arrows around the crosshair are off by default.
0.4.23

Steadier fishing and vehicles

  • A fish only gets away when the meter empties. The catch bar is bigger and the fight has no time limit.
  • Rovers, landers and ships no longer freeze between late updates.
  • Fixed a Mac crash in the renderer.
0.4.22

A fishing reel you play

  • Hold E to draw the rod back and release to cast, up to 14 m. The float arcs out and lands with a splash.
  • Hooking a fish opens a bar beside the crosshair. Keep the fish in it to fill the meter.
  • Wild water sometimes gives up bait, drinks, tonics or rare resources.
0.4.21

Mac vehicle fix

  • Mac players can see built rovers and landers again. The 0.4.20 Mac client had been packaged without them.
0.4.20

Build your own rover and lander

  • Learn Rover or Lander in the research tree, craft a hull kit, and fit parts one at a time. Speed follows the working parts.
  • Anyone can ride; the owner, their clan or their party drives.
  • Take a built vehicle through a pass with its parts, damage and hold.
  • Every region now has a town with a market, a bar and a casino. Stackyard stands in the Highlands.
0.4.19

Empty regions sleep

  • The Highlands shuts down after 10 minutes empty and wakes when someone crosses a pass or logs in toward it. Time still passes there.
0.4.18

Dungeon guards stay put

  • Empty dungeons no longer respawn their guards every couple of seconds.
  • Empty regions rest at a lower update rate.
  • Each region takes up to 10 explorers; crossing into a full one waits in a queue.
0.4.17

Highlands visible again

  • Regions past a pass no longer render as a white glare. Their shared sky and fog are rebuilt.
  • The hotbar no longer draws over the zone map.
0.4.16

Zone map

  • Press M for a map of the whole region with a grid, passes, launch fields, dungeons, events and route marks.
  • Your ships show on the minimap and in the journal's route list.
  • Ship crashes are gentler.
0.4.15

Two new regions

  • Shorefall's Crown Pass leads to the Highlands, and Rimefall's Glacier Throat to the Cryo Deeps. Your explorer, gear and rations come with you.
  • Each main map now has three passes. A pass to a region that isn't open stays closed and says so.
0.4.14

Updates from Play Online

  • Play Online offers an update before you join. Client updates moved to Settings.
0.4.13

Worn gear stays off your pack

  • Equipped armor and your hand tool no longer use pack slots.
  • Recovering your body puts everything you wore back in the same slots.
  • Type /played to see your explorer's age and play time.
0.4.12

Chat commands and parties

  • /say, /shout, /ooc, /auction, /planet, /tell and /reply. /help lists them all.
  • Parties of up to six with /invite, and /p to talk. /who finds explorers online.
  • A COMBAT tab records your last 200 hits, blocks, XP awards and loot.
0.4.11
